WSJ: Apple will introduce iOS 7 and show off new ways to share media

iOS-7

According to the Wall Street Journal, tomorrow Apple is going to introduce iOS 7 at WWDC. No surprise there. But the business paper has some information about what to expect from the revised UI. For example, according to insiders, the design features “plain solid backgrounds and more white space”. And while the original look of iOS was created to help users know how to work the Apple iPhone, that is no longer necessary in this day and age when more than half of Americans own a smartphone. But Apple employees and fans alike have complained that iOS is outdated, something that obviously will be addressed with tomorrow’s keynote speech.

On Monday, those in the know say that iOS 7 will reveal a new way to share photos and videos and also offer other enhancements. There is also speculation that iOS 7 will offer Flickr and Vimeo integration. Will it be enough to change the opinions of those who feel that Apple has lost its mojo and needs a spark? Thenext Apple iPhone model most likely won’t be released until late in the third quarter, but showing off the redesigned UI of iOS 7 could help light a spark under the Cupertino based firm and perhaps reverse the sharp drop in the company’s stock that took the shares from a high above $700 on the day the Apple iPhone 5 launched, to the current $442.

Also expected tomorrow is the introduction of Apple’s streaming music service dubbed iRadio in the media. Apple cleared the last hurdle to its ad supported service just the other day when it signed Sony Music. The Japanese based record label and publisher had been negotiating with Apple over how the two firms would split the ad revenue from the service and how much Apple would pay Sony for its music.
